Delta Dental of Arizona Promotes Jolean Fleck to VP of People and Organizational Development

New Role Emphasizes the Dental Carrier's Commitment to Employee Growth and Success

 — Delta Dental of Arizona, the state’s top dental insurance company, is pleased to announce the internal promotion of Jolean Fleck to its executive team. The move highlights the company’s intent to leverage the strategic value of employee engagement and talent.

In the newly created role of vice president of people and organizational development, Fleck will help the dental insurer navigate ever-changing workplace and societal challenges, with a focus on leadership development, employer branding and enriching the employee experience.

Fleck joined Delta Dental of Arizona in July 2019, as the organization’s director of human resources. During this time, she overhauled the company’s performance management program to focus more on employee strengths and talents instead of their weaknesses. This innovative program zooms in on employees’ natural abilities so they can shine at doing what they do best. She also instituted a novel recruitment and selection practice that takes into consideration both the talents and virtues of a potential new employee. Instead of solely focusing on job qualifications, the revamped recruitment process also evaluates a candidate’s personal qualities that enhance a company’s culture. This helps to ensure Delta Dental of Arizona is hiring employees who share the company’s core values and mission and use their work as an opportunity for growth, inspiration and professional development.

Prior to joining Delta Dental of Arizona, Fleck was the chief talent officer and human resources director for the Town of Gilbert, Arizona. As an experienced talent manager, she has spent more than 20 years delivering HR solutions across diverse industries that align with business strategy and enrich the employee experience. Her nimble leadership style and focus on creating an exceptional culture for employees make her a valuable business partner and change agent.

Fleck has an undergraduate degree in business with a human resources concentration from Austin Peay State University and a master’s degree from the W.P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University. Fleck holds a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification and a Society of Human Resources Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) designation.
