Delta Dental of Arizona Receives 2018 IMPACT Award from Greater Phoenix Chamber of Commerce
Honored as Community Champion for support of oral health initiatives throughout Arizona
GLENDALE, Ariz. (May 29, 2018) - For more than 30 years, the Greater Phoenix Chamber has honored and recognized the best of the best in Valley businesses and on May 24th, awarded Delta Dental of Arizona (DDAZ) with their IMPACT award as the Community Champion for small to medium business with under 250 employees. DDAZ joined seven other local companies on the list this year and all were recognized at the IMPACT Awards luncheon.
As the leading dental benefits provider in Arizona, DDAZ serves more than 1 million enrollees and more than 3,400 contracted dentists across the state. For more than 45 years, the company has been committed to the oral health of Arizonan’s through an emphasis on preventative care, oral health education and assistance to underserved and underinsured communities.
DDAZ was selected as this year’s Community Champion for their steadfast support of the underserved populations in the state, providing more than $12 million in funding through its foundation since 2006. That funding is utilized by deserving non-profits for various sealant and fluoride treatments, oral health educators, mobile dental screenings and more. In 2018 alone, the foundation granted nearly $800K to 37 non-profits throughout Arizona. In late 2017, the company also announced a $1 million gift to the St. Vincent de Paul Dental Clinic to deliver preventive and emergency oral health care for underserved children and adults over the next 10 years.
In addition, one of Delta Dental of Arizona’s core values is social responsibility—doing the right thing at the right time for the right reasons to benefit the communities we serve. For example, in the wake of Hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria, Delta Dental of Arizona joined other Delta Dental companies to donate nearly $715,000 to assist with relief efforts. Around that same time, Delta Dental of Arizona also provided more than 1,200 toothbrushes and 2,000 toothpaste tubes to Chicanos Por La Causa to send to Mexico City for those affected by the devastating earthquake.
