Foundation's Tooth Fairy Visits the Children's Museum of Phoenix
Delta Dental of Arizona Foundation, partnered with the Children’s Museum of Phoenix in February to celebrate National Children’s Dental Health Month. For the third year in a row, the museum hosted daily interactive health activities for all visitors of the museum throughout the month of February.
Sarabelle Toothington, the Delta Dental of Arizona Foundation Tooth Fairy delivered oral health puppet shows to children and their parents throughout the month.
During the Tooth Fairy’s interactive puppet show, “The Adventures of Bitesize Bucky,” kids learn karate moves which are used to fight “Bacteerula,” an evil puppet character who leaves pieces of herself on “Old Sage” the Wisdom tooth and “Raymond” the first molar cousin. They also sing Happy Birthday to “Bitesize Bucky” when he is born into the lower mouth cave, and join in a jazz song, “You Brush Your Teeth” using imaginary tooth brushes as they sing.
Back by popular demand were “Smile Bags” featuring toothbrushes, toothpaste and fun facts about dental health, which were offered to all visitors of the Museum. Total visits to the Museum during Children’s Dental Health Month topped 22,000 individuals of all ages.

Back to School Clothing Drive – 2011
Seventeen Delta Dental of Arizona employees and their families – a total of 32 enthusiastic adults and youth -- joined more than 2,500 volunteers on July 14 at the Back to School Clothing Drive's Annual "New Clothes, New Beginnings" distribution event to outfit almost 6,000 kids from Arizona schools in low income communities. Close to two-million dollars in merchandise was provided free to school children in grades K through 6 from 130 schools, representing 29 school districts, throughout the Valley.
The Delta Dental of Arizona Foundation donated 10,000 "Smile Bag" kits for the 2011 annual distribution event. The event benefits students in grades K-6 attending a Title I public elementary school. Each student receives new school uniforms and outfits, athletic shoes, backpacks, school supplies, and hygiene items.

Dental Supply Donation
Ensuring the community has the tools necessary to attain and maintain good oral hygiene is the first step in improving our community’s oral health. Unfortunately, far too many children are forced to share their toothbrushes with siblings and other family members. The gift of something as simple as a new toothbrush can go a long way in bringing a smile to the face of a child.
Delta Dental of Arizona Foundation is committed to donating dental hygiene supplies to organizations who promote health to those with the greatest need in our state. In 2010, the Foundation donated over 46,00 Smile Bags to the community.
Hundreds of Smile Bags were provided to Toys for Tots to help spread the joy of Christmas.
